Languages begin from sounds. And it is not a mere sound but a continuous sound. This sound decides the meaning and at the same time the meaning decides the sound. They are in a relative relation. The place where they meet is a language. We, who use languages, made a big mistake which is that we cut languages from human beings and perceive them as independent things. It means that the languages are subjects, people are simply using them. In other words, we have turned into slaves of the languages.In case of contacting to languages, grammar and phonological system do not contact but speakers and listeners contact. Therefore human beings change the languages, and the languages do not change by themselves.
